Lehigh Defense, a maker of high-quality rifle and pistol bullets, has just released a new line of XP (Xtreme Penetrator) lead free rifle bullets in various calibers, including .224, .257, and .308. They claim these monolitic solid copper bullets perform like a hollow point, with great expansion, along with excellent penetration.
The flutes on the nose of the projectiles help the rounds create a wound channel similar to a hollow point projectile, without limiting penetration. They first released this technology with their pistol bullet offerings.
Along with creating these bullets in various flavors, Lehigh is also planning to produce factory loaded ammunition. We here at AR15 Hunter are planning to test several loads, once they become available. Stay tuned.
