Hi Everyone!

As my username says, my name is Eric Mayer.  I'm one of the co-owners of AR15Hunter.com.

I've been hunting for 34 of my 47 years, using every type of weapon available.  Back in the late 1980s, I picked-up a Valmet M76 (wood stock version) that I used to shoot up Jack Rabbits and Coyotes in the deserts of SoCal.  I liked the versatility of that rifle, even when we didn't have access to a lot of the accessories we have today.  Fast-forward to a few years ago and I transformed into an AR15 Hunter full-bore.  I picked up a Remington R-15 and made it into one of my main predator hunting rifles.  I have a lot of knowledge on varmint hunting of all kinds, but particularly in predator hunting.  My knowledge of the AR15 platform has grown exponentially over the years and I am a true believer that the AR15 platform is perfect for most any hunting situation.

For those who may be wondering how we came about owning this site.  We approached Tom about taking over AR15Hunter and spoke to him about our ideas for growing the site.  He was very diligent in vetting us, because he wanted to make sure that we would continue the cause of promoting hunting with the AR15 platform.  After much time speaking with him via email and on the telephone, he agreed to let us acquire the site and grow it to what he originally envisioned.

Both Will and I hope that you enjoy the site, but we also hope that you help us build this community, including participating on the forum, submitting hunt reports and letting us know what we can do to help us make this into a great site!

Hi Larry in SD here. I have been hunting since I was age 12. Now at 61 I still have the same passion even though I can not do a lot of the things I used to do (yeah I know if I ever thought I was going to live this long I should have taken better care of myself when I was younger). I do still enjoy varmint hunting as well as calling Coyotes. I also am an avid deer hunter mostly in my home county with my family.

I discovered the AR-15 about 10 years or so ago and there has been no diminishing in my feeling towards the AR-15 Family of Rifles since the very first one. I really like their simplicity and ease of the owner being able to fix most anything that could go wrong and or build ones own custom AR-15. Lastly I am very partial of the ergonomics of the AR-15. I have had AR's from Olympic Arms, DPMS and Bushmaster and have been more than happy with all of them including their accuracy.

When hunting / calling Coyotes I exclusively use a 16" AR-15 .223 with 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip Handloads.

Now I just need a .308 Winchester AR of sorts to use for Whitetail Hunting.

Larry

Been hunting since I was a wee one...started out with an old Remington 550 .22   ...one that my Dad had when he was a kid...I still have that old rifle...it's more valuable than gold.

308 is my all time favorite caliber and I have always hunted deer with something in the "30 cal".  This will be my first year hunting deer with an "AR" type rifle...I have a Windham SRC in 308 with a really nice Leupold scope on it...

hi Eric, thanks for the email welcome, and hi Larry, it’s great to see ya here on the ‘New’ board buddy

I’ve been hunting since I was in my early teens, I learned the skill from my Father and Grand-Father; I hunted with archery equipment for 18/years, and with a modern bolt action rifle as a kid.

I just recently started hunting with a modern-firearm again; about 8/years ago now; as my archery partner move to ID, and then onto WY; so I decide then, it was time to pick up the long-gun again.

about 8/years ago, I retired  from the US Air Force, and I bought myself a retirement gift; I bought myself an Olympic Arms® K3B-M4-A3-TC (a carbine AR15) and shortly after that, I picked up an Olympic Arms® K8 Magnum, chambered in 25WSSM.

I sent the upper out to Mike Milli (aka (Dtech) and had him do his magic to the upper; i.e. cut the barrel down to 22in. plus he fluted the barrel and installed his integral compensator ; the barrel itself is super (scary) accurate, as it’s an Olympic Arms® SUM

In the past eight years or so, I’ve taken some very nice whitetail deer from the wheat fields area of south eastern WA; the rifle configuration and the caliber of the 25WSSM are a perfect combination for shooting accurately in this open terrain.

here are a few images of my K8-25WSSM ... and I'm also into reloading for about 25/years now :)

Hi Everyone!  I came by ARs via a circuitous route a few years ago when Tom S. popped in to the pipe making forum I run, and I discovered a love for modern rifles.  Prior to then, it was mostly bolt action hunting as well as archery.  The crew over at OA2.org was very helpful in helping me learn about ARs.  I lurk over there these days, as my new job takes up an awful lot of my time.

My first AR was an Olympic K868 (6.8 SPC-II, heavy barrel) upper on a lower I assembled.  From there it was a non-stop freight train - another 6.8, a .22 for the kids, a 5.56 HBAR, another 5.56 for the wife, 5.56 pistol, and I seem to have acquired all the parts to assemble a 300 BLK.  With all my builds, one piece is the common thread - all my barrels are Oly barrels.

I'm eager to see what happens here.  I can't hunt anything but coyotes with an AR here behind enemy lines in RI.  However, now that my parents have retired to SC, I hope to take some hunting vacations in the coming years where I can make use of my 6.8 and 300 BLK ARs.

Well, I guess I better introduce myself as well.

My name is Will Chambers, and I suffer from a well-known disease; BRD. Also known as Black Rifle Disease. All joking aside, I do have a passion for the AR platform, hence my involvement here at AR15 Hunter. I got into ARs back in the mid 2000s, thanks to some US Marine Corps buddies of mine. I was instantly hooked, and from that point forward, I started adding new rifles and shooting them as much as possible. I actually got back into hunting thanks to the AR platform, and a close friend of mine. His father was a farmer, and my buddy spent a lot of time sharing stories with me about him smacking ground hogs with various rifles, like a scoped .22-250, a R700 in .308, etc. I didn't have a "varmint" rifle handy, however I did have a couple AR15s. After my first kill, which was taken using a Rock River Arms Elite Tactical AR with iron sights, and a M856 tracer of all things, I was totally hooked on using the AR platform for hunting. This is where my passion started, and through this site I plan to share that passion with all of you, and others.

Eric and I are very excited about this site, and what it will bring to the hunting communities. Like he already stated, we need your involvement if we want to make this place the "go-to" source for all things AR15 Hunting related.

Enjoy the site!

-Will Chambers

Hello from Montana,Looking forward to seeing this site grow and making some new internet friends. Little about myself,51 years old and I have been hunting since I was about 8 or so. Got hooked on AR's about 12 years ago and have several that include 5.56,6.8 and .308 models. Started hunting with the .308 about 5 years ago and rarely hunt with anything else. This year I plan on using the 6.8 that I aquired this past year and am stoked to see what the round can do.

Weber from MD, USMC retired armorer. Been building the M16/AR platform for many years.

Use my AR's for shooting, hunting, defense, gun porn, and whatever else I can do with them.

Its really not that big of a problem, its just the rectangle format I normally use for my avatar, doesn't cooperate well with the square cropper.  Email sent.

29, from CO. If it flies, it dies, if it's brown, it's down!

I hunt pretty much anything I can afford to go after!

Hey guys, long time shooter, but relatively new to hunting at 35 (no family shoots or hunts).  Trying to learn as I go.  Been out looking for coyotes, rabbits, and deer thus far.  No real luck yet, couple sightings, but no shots taken.

Currently in north Texas, but probably on the move next year sometime to either Idaho or Alaska :)

Site looks good, looking forward to what comes next on here and on the hunt!

Tim
