I just read the article about  hunting with new 25-45 sharps.  I have a few questions.

First, since I"m a  hand loader, Are dies availibe for me to neck up my own brasses. I have just over 2000 pieces of 223 brass. I can dedicate a few hundred pieces to a pure hunting cartridge.

My next question is how does this cartridge compare to the 6.8 SPC and the 6.5 grendle?

I working on a .308 build for hunting black bear, but I would love to have a medium game cartridge that peforms well in a rifle that is much lighter than an SR25 platform rifle, thus my interest in the Sharps

RCBS and Redding dies are available right now. Sharps has them for sale on their site even.

As for your question about the 6.8 SPCII and 6.5, I don't have experience with either so I can't really comment.

Looking at the ballistics info I've seen, the .25-45 Sharps offers about the same energy as the 6.8 (using 115gr), however it will fly flatter, further down range. So, I'd say it has some advantages over the 6.8.

When you compare the 6.5 with say, a 90gr projectile, the Sharps cartridge still has a bit more velocity and energy at the muzzle (2880fps vs 3000fps, 1,658fpe vs 1,739fpe).

I'd say the 6.5 and Sharps are pretty equal competitors when comparing similar weight projectiles. However the 6.8 and 6.5 offer the "advantage" of allowing you to shoot heavier projectiles than the .25-45, at least at this time.  So far I'm seeing 110 grain .257 caliber projectiles as being about the heaviest, where as the .264 and .277 cals can be had in 130 grains or more.

I have both the 6.5 grendel and the 25x45 sharps. I like them both. The Sharps is easy to reload and make brass from either 223 or 5.56. The Grendel does cost more to reload brass is difficult to find and expensive. I can tell you that the 25x45  loaded with a 90 sierra hp is deadly medicine for whitetails. Have not had a chance to hunt with the Grendel yet. Just my 2 cents

I would love to see some pictures of the whitetails you have taken with the Sharps!  I'm putting in for my last year of Mule Deer here in California, so I am hoping to get drawn for a decent zone where I can kill one with the Sharps!

You can reform 7.62x39 brass into 6.5 Grendal by running it through the Grendel resizing die and then loading and firing.  I have done this.  7.62x39 brass is plentiful. Just be sure you fully resize the cases to Grendel. If you don't they will not chamber.

I have recently thought about picking up a .25-45 Sharps barrel to try it.

We just posted up a News Report Article on the new 70 grain Sierra BlitzKing factory ammo for the .25-45 Sharps.  We will have a review and hunt report published late next-week, and it will include a video!

Hey, just wanted to see if anyone has been reloading the 25-45 and worked up new loads. I have ordered a set of dies from Sharps and wanted to see if you know of any new reloading data other than what Sharps has. Wanted to try to work up something new but I'm new to reloading and do not want to damage my rifle or myself.
